Get ready for big laughs in the small wonder! The annual Tax Free Comedy Festival
from City Theater Company takes the stage for two nights only: Friday and Saturday
nights, October 20 and 21. Show time is at 7:00 PM both evenings at CTC’s home base in
The Delaware Contemporary, where the two organizations are in their third year of artistic
partnership.
Tax Free is sponsored by Artisans Bank and is the First State's only annual showcase
of its kind, featuring a mix of seasoned and up-and-coming comedians and improv
teams from Delaware, Philadelphia, and beyond.
The 2023 lineup includes national and local acts: stand-up comedy from Belynda
Cleare, Cecily Alexander, Trayvon Fulton, and Eddie Gallagher and improv performances
by Untitled: Art Meets Improv, Daddy Issues, Fearless Improv, and 6 Different People.
Belynda Cleare, Cecily Alexander, Trayvon Fulton, and Eddie Gallagher are
comedians who have been impressing audiences across the USA and Canada -
highlights from their tours include Cleare’s featured segments on Fox 29 and Canadian
Broadcasting media; Alexander opening for comedian Maria Bamford and authoring the
book Vagina Strong; Fulton acting as the host of Philly’s weekly The Comedy Jawn and
playing at Punchline in Philadelphia; and Gallagher the creator behind Kricket Comedy, his
award-winning traveling comedy club.
Fearless Improv, CTC’s house team, performs short-form comedy in the style of the
popular television show Whose Line Is It Anyway and routinely sells out shows locally at
CTC and Wilmington Brew Works. Daddy Issues is popular throughout Philadelphia and
the Delaware Valley, creating long-form comedy shows that connect humor with heart; while
6 Different People of Philly fame promises “unadulterated chaos” as they create
slice-of-life vignettes to comic effect. National act Untitled: Art Meets Improv is a unique
experience that explores the connection between comedy and visual arts by partnering with
a local artist to create a hybrid improv-meets-studio-art performance.
The all-ages shows start at 7 P.M. both nights, and feature a cash bar with seasonal brews
and local wineshop offerings for 21+. All CTC shows also offer access to The Delaware
Contemporary Galleries prior to showtime, currently exhibiting art curated around the theme
of Nourish.
TICKETS: General admission $25 single night or $40 two-night pass. Military with ID and
Student with ID admission $20 single night. Youth (under 16) single night admission $15.
